Fixed Throat Venturi - Model VSV
Used primarily for particulate
removal, fixed-throat venturis are recommended for exhaust streams
containing particles having a defined size distribution. The venturi
throat is then designed to provide the proper gas acceleration and
liquid droplet shearing to ensure adequate contact between the particulate
and recycle liquid for impingement. The new larger particle/droplet
then is separated from the gas streams by gravitational forces and
impingement on an entrainment separator installed downstream of the
venturi. Throat pressure drop is a function of particle size. The
smaller the particle to be removed, the smaller the throat and the
higher the pressure drop. Venturis are also capable of achieving
moderate gas absorption for soluble/reactive gases.

Adjustable-Throat Venturi - Model VTV
The operation of the adjustable throat design is similar to the fixed-throat
except the throat size and pressure drop can be adjusted by means of
a movable internal bullet. The bullet position is set using a linear
actuator and can be moved to maintain a fixed pressure drop for applications
with variable exhaust volumes.

Eductor venturis are different than standard venturis in that they
utilize higher pressure liquid flow to create or induce the gas flow
into the scrubber. They are effective for both gas absorption and removal
of high loadings of large particulate. For very small volume applications
(<100 CFM) eductors can be used in series to achieve removal of
gaseous contaminants from 95-99% efficiency. They are also effective
for scrubbing gas streams containing high concentrations of contaminants
since they are less sensitive to gas velocity than other types of scrubbers
and can contact the gas with a large volume of liquid containing necessary
scrubbing agents and absorbing high heats of reaction. Eductors are
sometimes used in conjunction with packed towers for emergency scrubbing
of process vents or storage tanks.

Rod Throat Venturi - Model MTV
The rod or multi-throat venturi is suitable for high loadings of coarse
particulate. The throat design utilizes a series of parallel rods or
pipes to increase gas and liquid velocity for impingement of particulate.
The gas exiting the throat section then turns horizontally into a baffle
chamber to knock down the liquid droplets followed by a chevron blade
entrainment separator for final cleaning. This design has been used
effectively on applications in both the foundry and mining industries
for removal of coarse solids such as sand and crushed rock.
