Retrofits/Upgrades

From capacity increases and decreasing maintenance to meeting new pollution regulations, Ceilcote engineers can offer a wide range of solutions to upgrade your existing air pollution control system. A few more typical scenarios are listed below. Please contact your local Ceilcote representative to review your specific needs.

Capacity Increases

For situations where existing packed towers have operated successfully but higher exhaust gas throughput is now required, our newest packing, the Type 3-K Tellerette can offer increased throughput at lower pressure drop. The 3-K has been tested at velocities up 700 feet per minute or 40% higher than most conventional packed tower designs. Back to Top

Column Fouling

For applications where packed towers have proved unreliable due to fouling from insoluble particulate, reaction by-products, chemical scaling or bacteriological growth, conversion to a Fluidized-bed scrubber design may be the answer. By replacing the fixed packed bed with Fluid-bed-Pack or Fluid-bed-Fill, expensive downtime due to chemical cleaning cycles and packing replacement can be virtually eliminated while actually increasing removal efficiency. Particulate Removal

Many industries now face new or more stringent levels of particulate removal. Upcoming EPA regulations will require more effective equipment for fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Without scrapping your existing system, Ceilcote can provide a variety of solutions to improve the performance of your existing equipment.

  • Existing packed towers designed for gas absorption only can be converted to Fluidized-bed scrubbers to achieve simultaneous gas and particulate removal
  • For reduction of extremely fine particulate from existing particulate scrubbers, addition of an Ionizing Wet Scrubber to the end of the equipment train can dramatically improve efficiency with minimal pressure drop (<1.0 inches WC) increase.
