The fluidized bed scrubber (FBS) is a unique scrubber type specially
suited for applications where other types of equipment, such as
packed towers, would be prone to fouling. The FBS is effective
for removal of micron and submicron particulate but can also achieve
high-efficiency gas absorption. The units contain a special type
of packing that literally lifts or fluidizes in a certain velocity
range. This produces a highly turbulent zone that prevents solid
build-up while achieving intimate contact of the gas and liquid
for highly effective particulate collection and mass transfer.
This design also requires much less energy input than other conventional
particulate removal devices such as venturi
scrubbers. Existing
packed towers can be easily retrofitted to a Fluidized-bed scrubber
design to solve fouling problems, increase capacity, or add particulate
removal capability. Fluidized-bed
scrubber Pilot Testing Equipment is available for new applications.
